On March 1st, Dune Part 2 was released, I will be reviewing the movie and breaking down it’s plot. The movie picks up were the first one left off and shows the journey of Paul Atreides throughout the film. Similar to some of the most-loved Star Wars movies, Dune part 2 has been compared to Star Wars’ Empire Strikes Back. Much like the emperor struck back to the Jedi the Emperor in Dune struck back to Paul. The movie mainly see’s Paul discovering his true power and the obstacles to find his destiny. We also got a deeper look into the culture of the Freman, taking a wider view of their beliefs.
Best features
Action was definitely an adaption from the first film, its technicality in the fight scenes was outstanding. The whole film was visually striking and had great sound effects both adding to the great experience. Throughout the film, a deeper look is taken into the fierce character of the Harkonnens. In which it Boldly displayed their savage intent to kill Paul Atredis and the Freman.
As the film started to reach past the middle, we started to see all the good stuff starting to fire up. For instance, we were introduced to the son of the leader of the Harkonnens Feyd-Rautha, a great character may I say. Along with that, we witnessed the conflict between the emperor Paul and the Freman turn into a massive battle.
Plot details, explained
The movie is centred around Paul trying to gain control of the Emperor by gaining control of Spice on Aracas. As spice is so important in the universe, it’s seen as without spice is without power. So in terms of how they set up the 3rd Dune movie (Dune Messiah). Near to the end of the film It centres Paul as beginning his Journey in the battles that will soon be fought in his name. What are these battles? After Paul confronts the Emperor, and challenges him as a result he fights Fade Rauthar in witch he comes out with a victory. This means Paul is now Emperor, however the other great Houses do not approve of this. In witch it’s suggested that each one have plans to over through him.
In Addition this leads Paul to set sale and begin his holy war with the great houses. Also another big aspect of the set up for Dune 3 is that it’ll feature Pauls sister. After Jessica (Pauls mom ) took the water of life, witch opend up her consciousness as well as Alia’s (Pauls sister). At this moment and time Alia is a fetus meaning as she grows her powers will be on the same if not above the reverent mothers power. This moment is much like when Paul took the water of life. In witch resulted in all faint futures he once saw were now clear, giving him the ability to see all possible futures with a clear state of mind.
The film achieved great reviews and a high box office of 178.5 million over it’s opening weekend.
It received and IMBD rating of 9/10 and a 93% Tomatometer and a 95% audience score from Rotten Tomatoes.
