Today, X-Men 97 released its fourth episode, and here’s a brief breakdown. This episode mainly focuses on Jubilee reclaiming her Mojo, emphasizing her realization of what she needs. The narrative centers on Jubilee and Roberto finding themselves trapped in a video game by the villain Mojo. Various glorious moments from Jubilee’s past are presented to her, prompting her to contemplate remaining in the game.
The incorporation of diverse video game graphics and details within the trapped environment is intriguing. Scenes feature references to Nintendo, Marvel Vs Capcom, and other games, accompanied by 8-bit and other sound transitions, contributing to a recurring video game theme. Towards the end of this part of the episode, Roberto advances his connection with Jubilee by making a move on her.
Storm and Forge: Second part of the Episode
The second part of the episode continued the story focusing on Storm’s loss of her powers. She was accompanied by Forge, who is attempting to assist her in regaining her abilities. Forge, a character capable of manifesting anything he imagines. There are some slight differences from the comics; for instance, Forge resides in a high-tech palace rather than an old cabin in the west. The episode then introduced the Adversary, the entity responsible for trapping Storm in this nightmarish illusion. Adversary is an enemy of Forge, with the classic objective of destroying and reshaping reality. It’s unlikely that his goals will align similarly in the cartoon, as his desire poses a significant threat requiring the assistance of all X-Men. However, the current focus of the story appears to be on Mr. Sinister, the primary antagonist.
In this episode we also witnessed that forge was the one who created the weapon that deprived Storm of her powers.
