Marvel just dropped a mid-season trailer for the upcoming episodes of X-Men 97, sparking excitement. The trailer features Mr Sinister, hinting at his return and a couple of various scenes throughout the upcoming episodes. However the main spotlight of the trailer was a cameo of Captain America. In an exiting scene set in a snow background we witness Cap’s shield in action. This could be a moment where Cap crosses paths with the X-Men during a mission he’s on. The trailer themes around Mutant warfare, suggesting Captain America might have been drawn into after learning about it. This sets the stage for an awesome Interaction between the Avengers and the X-Men. With either Rouge or Cyclops being Cap’s first X-Men encounter as hinted from the yellow boots.
X-Men 97: Captain America – Spider-man Animated 90’s series Cannon
It may be unclear to which Captain America this is, this is actually supposed to be the Captain from the Spider man 90’s animated series. As the series was actually confirmed on X-Men 97 that the Spider man 90’s series is canon to the current X-Men 97. In the series Captain America did crossover with the X-Men during the events of Secret Wars.
This Gladly carries on the story of what happened to Cap in the Spider-Man 90’s series, after being sent away along with the X-Men and a few other Characters by the Beyonder. So if it isn’t clear, in the Spider – man 90’s series, there was a crossover with various Avengers, X-Men and Fantastic 4 characters. This all took place in the events of the Secret Wars episode. So you can tell X-Men 97 has some pretty cool tie-ins with the Spider-Man 90’s animated series. This possibly hinting at the return of 90’s animated series Spider-Man.
Throughout the rest of the trailer we mainly see the massive attack on Genosha being addressed. Along with a few other scenes including Mr Sinister and Nightcrawler action scenes. Furthermore, speculations arises on who was behind the Genosha attack. Likely candidates include Mr sinister in association with Trask, Bastion and Apocalypse. Moreover speculation also arises on how Gambit returns. He could return simply by the Cable time travel way. Or he could get resurrected by Apocalypse, as was done in the comics. Despite the differences with this happening in comics and series. – They’ve changed up the series form comics before, meaning they could do it with this. For example they changed a few things about Madelyne Pryor’s story-line. Episode 6 “Life Death part 2” is coming next Wednesday.
