Marvel recently lays off Marvel employees, including Junior level production and development workers. The reason why is largely linked to Bob Iger reducing the quantity/volume of Marvel movies and shows. Since then, there isn’t a need for the amount of production and development Employee they have. In the past, Bob Iger has emphasized the need to make tough decisions when canceling projects. The lay offs of those employees are a part of those decisions, as fewer movies and shows mean fewer employees. According to a report from Deadline, Marvel has reduced their slate. So they have cancelled projects that were in development. We already received information that Marvel canceled movies that were either in development or slated for development. For example, Captain Marvel 3, Ant-Man 4, and Eternals 2, as I discussed in one of my previous posts. So this is why Marvel lay’s off employees.

This news has gained high anticipation, especially after Bob Iger’s significant announcement about enhancing the quality of Disney+ movies and shows, particularly within Marvel. So, overall, although these layoffs are unfortunate, they do make sense. Concerning the reduction in the slate, it brings benefit and ensures the quality that Marvel needs.

Marvel lay’s Off Employees, more projects cancelled?: What could be some of these cancelled projects

Projects such as Iron Heart and Wonder Man represent some of those less faithful projects, which might lead to speculation about their cancellation. However, Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum has confirmed that both shows are still in production. Despite these projects focusing on less popular characters, the presence of talented actors supports the potential success of the shows. Regarding series like Nova, they are currently in development but may not make it to the screen, as stated by Brad Winderbaum. Of course, the news of Marvel employees being laid off could potentially lead to the cancellation of one of these projects in development.

Overall I’m very glad Marvel is making the steps to assure everyone the quality it’ll get
