Green Lantern DCU – James Gunn posts Green Lantern Fist on Instagram
James Gunn recently posted a picture of a Green Lantern fist splatted with blood on his Instagram. And it’s sparked a lot of questions. Including things it could imply, suggest, mean, and linked to. Answering what it suggests and implies, I think it implies or suggests a darker tone form the DCU. Or according to Screen Rant “a rougher breed of Green Lantern than some of his more famous colleagues”. Focusing first on that ‘darker tone’, this has been discussed before about the DCU. With questions like will the DCU provide family friendly movies or will it take a darker tone of movies and shows? This splatted blood on the fist could be implying that darker tone of DCU shows and movies. Green Lantern DCU: Could a Darker tone be better?
Now, a darker tone of superheroes has been gaining traction from viewers, ever since the amazon invincible show started to get some major rise and hype in viewership along with 10/10 reviews. This very show as been discussed before about it drawing audiences more to that darker side of Superhero’s. This could be exactly what James Gunn want’s to do with the DCU, or at least some of it. Because there are still many family friendly superhero movies out there that have performed with outstanding results in viewership, reviews, and box office. A great and best example of that is Avengers Endgame along with a lot of other Marvel movies. The point is having a range of a dark toned and family friendly movies and shows, is what more audiences want. And would increase success for the DCU.
If this picture is focusing on like screen rant said a more “ A Rougher Breed of Green Lantern than some of his more famous colleagues”. I think that’d be a very unique and great idea. As having this darker toned more “rough breed” of a lantern is something we haven’t really seen from green lantern. Especially in live action, so it’ll be awesome seeing this Green Lantern like this.
Of course I could be wrong and all these ideas that are being speculated could be wrong. It could just be simply for hyping up the project. Or an indication that they’ve maybe even began working on the project. But, those ideas being speculated I hope are true.
