Aquman and the Lost Kingdom was released 21st of December 2023, staring Jason Mamoa – Aquaman , Patrick Wilson – Ocean Master, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II – Black Manta, Randall Park – Dr Stephen Shinn and others.
I have to say after watching this film it’s defiantly my favourite DCEU film, things that boldly stood out were the visually striking effects, tons of awesome fight scenes and the intensity of the film after Arthurs child was kidnapped by Black Manta. I also liked how you got to see how much Arthur progressed in his fighting skills since the first film.
Cons from film critics
In terms of cons, critics say that the film was missing some elements from the first film, elaborating on that it felt small in cast and overall film and it missed confidence and comfort of the first film, the review was concluded by saying that the film was under stress. Now first hearing this I was surprised by the negativity, but I thought it was reasonable as I did see how it was true. Despite the compelling argument of con this didn’t really change how much I loved the film. I give it a 4/5 star and 8.5/10.
The Film was given an IMBD rating of 6/10
Looking at reviews from Top critics they were mostly negative but some did provide valid explanations for this though.
Overall In my opinion it was great way to end the DCEU, since I wasn’t impressed by a lot of their previous movies. Hopefully Jason Mamoa’s roll in the new Dc universe as Lobo (not sure if that’s in entirely confirmed) will be good as he is the perfect person to play the character in my opinion.
