- We have some promising news on the DCU, with James Gunn continuing to prove why it’ll be greater than great
On his thread people asked James Gunn when he would announce the rest of the upcoming Authority movie cast. Gunn then replied with a statement very promising to the future successes of the DCU. “We won’t green light a film until we have finished a script we’re happy with and, in general, we won’t cast a film until the script is finished. This is why some projects are moving faster than anticipated and others more slowly. It’s always going to be quality first no matter what”.
This is very good for the DCU, as it highlights that Gunn is focused entirely on the quality of the DCU. Including production, and especially story, as Gunn has hinted in the past how much effort he put’s into the story’s.
Why this is better than Marvel studios
Well for starters, it’s quite literally been admitted by Marvel studious that they were putting quantity over quality. That in fact being one of the soul reasons Bob Iger cancelled MCU projects. Given the context of t Gunn’s quote, this will likely not happen to him. Another obvious reason is that for some of their movies they haven’t even completed a script before the cast are hired. Authority’s guaranteed success
Gunn has stated that Authority is a passion project of his, that alone increases the films success rate. As often very good work is put into passion projects for any person. (Not at all does that mean James Gunn doesn’t already put great quality into his movies.) On the lines of quality it’s success is even more guaranteed after his recent quote. James Gunn has also stated it’s unique features, in the following quote. “The Authority are a group of Superhero’s who think the world is broken and they want to fix it by any means necessary. I think it’s a very different look at superhero’s”. – I can’t wait to see this movie as it’s unique touch of makes it so exiting to see how the whole thing turns out.
