Marvel reportedly wants Miguel Ohara’s Spider-Man 2099 to team up with Kang in the MCU. A crazy team up, that I’m sure will bring a lot of excitement. However according to this report Sonny won’t let them. Saying it was a “Huge ask”. This big scoop of info is coming from the very credible insider Cryptic HD Quality. Stating – “Miguel’s knowledge and experience with the Multiverse (Spider-Verse) would have seen a Kang variant forming an alliance with him. Power for Kang, stability for Miguel. –“Though this is most likely not happening again (you know why), I heard Miguel O’hara is still on the table and that there’s a great possibility he could make a live action debut in the near future with a new team.”
Now this makes a lot of sense, not what the insider stated, but what Marvel wants to do with Miguel. He has resources, a lot of resources that would most definitely aid Kang with his goal. Just look at what Miguel has access to in Spider-Man across the Spider-Verse. It’d make a lot of sense to pair that with Kang. But, unfortunately, Sonny supposedly recked on that idea, saying “Miguel was a huge ask”. Huge ask? or money making? Clearly Sonny has it out for great idea’s, that would not only help with money but fan reception. It honestly seems like Sonny is afraid of Marvel studious making money. Almost as if their abusing their rights to Spider-man. And I’ve read what fans have said about Sonny saying this, so I’m sure they’ll agree.
Spider-Man 2099 can still debut in the MCU
Despite how we probably won’t get a Spider-Man 2099 team up, the insider does still give us hope for the villains entry. “there’s a great possibility he could make a live action debut in the near future with a new team.” So we may not get that awesome team up, but still may get a debut form Miguel. Also notice in the quote they state “with a new team“. Excitingly this could mean Miguel joins or possibly forms a team that’d aid him with his goal. And since Miguel has access to Multiverse travel, he could possibly recruit villains from other universes to form a team.
One very likely recruit is Doctor Doom, who’s actually pretty similar to Miguel. That being not all bad. Doctor Dooms recourses and tech would also aid Miguel a lot, probably making Doom his best ally. I think this would make a much better team up than Kang & Miguel. And it’d make a lot of sense. Also, if you didn’t notice, I’m talking about Miguel as the version form Spider-Verse. As that seems like the most likely and probable Spider-Man 2099 Marvel would go for.
